Appleton Forest School

Lumb Brook Valley is a beautiful wood that needs care. We are helping the Land Trust increase biodiversity in a wild but neglected woodland and the Woodland Trust maintain semi ancient woodland.

Where and when?

Birchwood Forest School

The walled garden woods is very neglected with litter, rhododendron and poorly ponds. Also known as Small woods in Oakwood or Oak Gate we're helping Warrington Borough Council and the Woodland Trust care for this wood.

Where and when?

Meet at the Walled Garden/ Roberts Fold Subway Locking Stumps at 1pm last Sunday of every month. There's lots of options for parking including Birchwood Shopping Centre but please consider local residents.

What to expect?

You'll meet new friends and be working at your pace after a quick safety brief. We'll be using tools to coppice small trees, dragging branches into piles and pick up litter. We'll leave bird food and create habitat for woodland creatures.

You may get muddy so wear stout shoes and appropriate clothing. We operate in all weather's except where there's a safety risk from high wind. We provide gloves and tools but feel free to bring your own - sorry no power tools. We work for a couple of hours but feel free to do as much or as little as you like but let us know you're going.
